Quantitative Core
With 3DI support, the 3DI Quantitative Core is able to offer consultation on study design, sources of VA and non-VA data relevant to your research, health record phenotypes for key variables of interest, and statistical analysis plans. They can help with obtaining preparatory to research data to assess the feasibility of your study design and can support power analyses and sample size calculations for the proposal itself.
In prior collaborations, the Quantitative Core has worked with investigators to:
- Design analyses that leverages the VA’s Corporate Data Warehouse,
- Randomized trials with complex recruitment and data collection strategies,
- Target trial emulation and stepped wedge designs with longitudinal VA data, and
- Tailored survey designs for primary data collection involving VA patients.
They can also help you determine the staffing needs for your quantitative project and can provide input on the budget to make sure your analysis has the necessary support.
It gets busy as grant submission deadlines approach, so you are encouraged to reach out early to make sure you receive the support you need on the timeline required for grant submission. For those within the VA, visit the 3DI site that tracks grant submission requirements and deadlines (2026 Grant Timelines and Supporting Documents). You can also complete the 3DI grant submission intake form to schedule an initial consultation with Katherine Hoggatt, the Quantitative Core lead.
